Description

Threaded FC connectors are designed for high-vibration environments.

The "PC" stands for "physical contact" because these connectors allow the surfaces of two connected fibers to be in direct contact with each other. The "APC" stands for "angled physical contact" because these connectors allow the surfaces of two connected fibers to be in direct contact with each other and because the fiber end is polished at an angle to prevent reflected light from traveling back up the fiber.

The SENKO FC/PC single mode connectors feature a pre-radiused (20 mm) ceramic ferrule that minimizes back reflections (Typ. 50dB). The ceramic ferrule is also spring-loaded to control the force on the fiber as the connector is screwed into its port. The SENKO FC/APC connectors have an 8° pre-angled ceramic ferrule, which when properly polished, results in a typical return loss of 60dB.

Each 2.0 mm narrow key connector comes complete with a strain relief boot for either Ø3.0 mm, Ø2.0 mm, or Ø900 µm tubing and a fiber connector cap. They also feature a hole size tolerance of +1 µm / -0 µm and a maximum concentricity of 1 µm.

These connectors also feature a low 0.25 dB connector-to-connector typical loss. However, significant insertion loss can result when mating to different styles, and because of this, we recommend that FC/APC connectors be mated only with other FC/APC connectors, and in the same way, FC/PC only to FC/PC. If your application requires that you switch connector types, we recommend using a hybrid patch cable or adapter (available).

As an alternative to buying and assembling separate optical fiber, connectors, furcation tubing, termination tools, and consumables, we also offer pre-built patch cables from stock. Custom patch cables are available.
